“A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as plain as the nose on your face.” – The Blue Fairy, Pinocchio

I don’t like lying. It’s like making up stories. And the more you lie, the more stories you have to make up. And the more stories you make up, the more you have to remember. And then you forget. And then your made up stories get found out. And then people can’t trust you to tell the truth. And it all goes down hill.

If you always tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything. And people can rely on you to always tell them the truth.

The blue fairy in Pinocchio tried to teach him this lesson from the get go. But Pinocchio wouldn’t learn it.

So, he told lies.  And not only were his lies as plain as the nose on his face, his nose began to make it clear that he was telling lies.

How funny!

All in all I think it just makes sense to always tell the truth.

I mean who would want to go around with a nose as long as Pinocchio’s after he told lies and NOT have a fairy to make things right AFTER you spent some time in a fish belly trying to save your creator and and and …

Yeah, just tell the truth.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
