Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

My daddy mentions Baloo the bear from time to time. He mentioned him just a few moments ago.

“How do say your last name?”

“Belew is like Baloo the Bear. Hula Balu. Cat Ballou.”

Most people get it after Baloo the Bear.

Baloo has some advice for Mogli.

How can I know something is not there unless I go look for it and not find it?

But I think Baloo is saying something different.

I think he is talking to people who are looking for that magic bullet, the secret pill, the instant success. Those kinds of things are not to be found.

Success comes from hard work. Health comes from taking care of yourself. I don’t know why anybody would want a bullet magic or otherwise.

I do understand that it is not good to waste time looking for things that are not there.

I hope I can learn soon on how to know where to look.

I think I will ask my mommy. She’s the best shopper I know.
